Sworn translations are official translations accepted by public institutions for a wide range of administrative procedures. It is a special type of translation which has legal validity.


I am Ana Belén Barrio and I am a Sworn Translator appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, as well as a Chartered Linguist under a title awarded by the Chartered Institute of Linguists in the UK. 

I lived in the UK for 15 years, have an MA in Translation from the University of Salford and have completed several specialization courses on legal translation and Aliens Law.

​In the nearly twenty years I have been working as a translator I have gained extensive experience in legal and financial translation, completing projects for a large number of companies, international organisations and law firms. At present, I focus on official sworn translations.

As a member of the Professional Association of Legal and Sworn Translators and Interpreters in Spain and the Chartered Institute of Linguists in the United Kingdom, I adhere to the following professional codes of conduct:
